Andrea and I had the wonderful treat of going to the North Shore for a few days of R&R. Some wonderful friends treated us to a couple nights at the Larsmont Cottages on Lake Superior. The views were fantastic, and the accomdations were really nice. Monday we took the day to travel up the shore a little bit and see some of the most notables sites: Gooseberry Falls and Splitrock Lighthouse. It was little chilly by the Lake, but all in all a wonderful day to hike around and enjoy the beauty of creation.
Our trip reminded us again about how important rest is to our souls... it is so vital to our spiritual and emotional health (physical too!) I wonder how many of our stresses and worries would dissipate if we simply took regular time to "hit pause" on life and rested. I'm trying to get better at that. Sometimes, in the midst of so many things to attend to in ministry, it feels hard to "hit pause" but I know it's for the best.
If you'd like to check out pictures from our trip, I posted them in my Facebook album
