A fun link about "creativity to share"
By admin on Tuesday, January 27, 2009

My friend Liz sent me a link to an article she read recently.  It's written by Paul Bennett and it's about the power of sharing creativity (which spins very well from what we talked about on Sunday).   He's a designer and not a theologian, so don't take his opening comment too religiously...   Enjoy!

A great quote
By admin on Thursday, January 22, 2009
Tonight at small group I was remembering a quote that I saw awhile back on my friend Michael's facebook page. The quote is from Vineyard pastor Steve Nicholson. "The heart and soul of the Christian life is learning to hear the voice of God and developing the courage to do what he tells us to do." Well said....

ABC's Good morning America highlights World Vision
By admin on Thursday, January 15, 2009
I received an email update from World Vision today that included a link to a spot ABC's Good Morning America did around Christmas time. They were highlighting World Vision's gift catalog program where families can purchase livestock and other supplies that go directly towards helping folks in at-risk areas to live a more sustainable life. The video features an Africa family that was the recepient of a goat, and the American family that gave the goat.

Do we perceive beauty?
By admin on Friday, January 09, 2009
A friend forwarded me this story this week: A man sat at a metro station in Washington DC and started to play the violin; it was a cold January morning. He played six Bach pieces for about 45 minutes. During that time, since it was rush hour, it was calculated that thousands of people went through the station, most of them on their way to work.

By admin on Tuesday, January 06, 2009
A friend of mine forwarded this YouTube video to me. It's of Penn Jillette, 1/2 of the comedy act "Penn & Teller". Penn is an outspoken athiest, but in this video he describes his experience of receiving a Bible as a gift from a audience member. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7JHS8adO3hM

Helpful Bible reading/study tools
By admin on Monday, December 29, 2008
Yesterday my sermon was focused on "How to read the Bible for all its worth" - based largely on Gordon Fee and Douglas Stuart's book of the same title. In the message I mentioned several Bible reading/study tools that people might find helpful. I thought I would post some links to a those and a few others.

Vineyard Pastor featured in Significant Living Magazine
By admin on Tuesday, December 16, 2008
I got this article forwarded to me from one of our fellow Midwestern Vineyard pastors. Robby Dawkins leads the Vineyard Church in Aurora, IL and has an amazing story of how God helped him face a food addiction and lose 250 pounds in 14 months. Here is a link to the article that highlights some of Robby's story. www.trvc.org/Portals/0/RobbyDawkins.pdf
