This week, Andrea and I get the treat of heading to the annual Fall Midwest Vineyard pastor's retreat. The past few years it's been held in Green Lake, WI, which if you've never been there is absolutely gorgeous this time of year.

Sara Groves and International Justic Mission |

Andrea and I had the treat last night of joining some friends to see Sara Groves, Derek Webb, Brandon Heath, Sandra McCracken and Charlie Peacock in concert. Beyond the stellar musical performances, the evening was focused on raising awareness of justice issues.

As part of our "Facing life's fears with faith" sermon series, this Sunday I am going to be preaching about facing the fear of financial ruin (somewhat timely subject...) I'm doing quite a bit of reading this week, re-looking at the whole subject of money in the Bible and in the full scope of wisdom from Christian leaders.

Andrea and I recently finished reading a very interesting book called "Jim and Casper go to church." The book recounts the travels and experiences Jim Henderson (a regular Christian) and Matt Casper (a regular atheist) had as they visited 12 churches around the USA and entered into a discussion on what they found.
