31 questions to ask God
By admin on Tuesday, September 30, 2008
As part of our "Facing life's fears with faith" sermon series, this Sunday I am going to be preaching about facing the fear of financial ruin (somewhat timely subject...) I'm doing quite a bit of reading this week, re-looking at the whole subject of money in the Bible and in the full scope of wisdom from Christian leaders.

Amber Brooks sings "Just like you promised."
By admin on Sunday, September 28, 2008
A number of people in our church have been encouraged lately by Amber Brooks' song, "Just like you promised." A friend forwarded me a video of the song, so I thought I'd pass it along: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YinijbeK7LY&NR=1

Andrea ran across this cool image yesterday... it's a visual depiction of the cross-references found in the Bible.   Check it out...

By admin on Thursday, September 18, 2008
For a post today, I thought I would include a couple paragraphs I sent out to our church via e-mail. Maybe it will encourage you as well.

Is this what Jesus told you guys to do?
By admin on Friday, September 12, 2008
Andrea and I recently finished reading a very interesting book called "Jim and Casper go to church." The book recounts the travels and experiences Jim Henderson (a regular Christian) and Matt Casper (a regular atheist) had as they visited 12 churches around the USA and entered into a discussion on what they found.

Some TRVC summer pictures
By admin on Tuesday, September 09, 2008
I'm finally getting around to posting a few photos from a few events we had towards the end of this summer. This first set is from the picnic and baptism we had out at Bray Park on August 10th. It was an absolutely wonderful day - both the weather and the events of celebrating with three friends about new life in Christ. And then the Tuesday night women's group hosted a Visual Journal day on August 16th...

New Andrew Peterson music available on-line
By admin on Monday, September 08, 2008
This morning Andrea and I have been doing some fall cleaning around the house. The not so fun task has been made much more pleasant by being able to listen to some new Andrew Peterson music. If you're not familiar with AP, you should be!!!! (Is that too strong???) Seriously, AP has been one of our favorite artists over the past 2-3 years. The great news is that he just signed with Centricity Records and is releasing a new CD this month. The cooler news is that Centricity has made an on-line jukebox where you can listen to the CD in full for free.

Is helping a friend connect with Jesus more like networking than it is rocket science?
By admin on Thursday, September 04, 2008
I had an interesting experience this past week that I've been thinking about a lot. While I was out at the Center City Summit in Boston last month, I got introduced to a wonderful gal named Trish Ryan.

Why Little Einstein's Is My Favorite Kids Cartoon
By admin on Tuesday, August 26, 2008
I had a neat interaction with my kids tonight that I just had to share. Earlier today I was helping a family in our church pack up their stuff to move to Washington state (that's a bummer). But, one of the things that came out of the packing adventure was that our friend Lori had a compilation set of 100 favorite classical music pieces that she gave me.... things like Moonlight Sonata, Pachelbel's Cannon, a bunch of Mozart music, etc...

Is there a difference between Christianity and following Jesus?
By admin on Wednesday, August 20, 2008
I am just finishing up my 5 day trip to Boston. And as I mentioned yesterday, it's been a hugely encouraging, but also challenging time. The Center City Summit I went to was super thought provoking on so many levels, but at least on my initial take-away, one question seems to really stand out.
