By admin on Thursday, April 24, 2008
We have a fun Sunday night tradition at our house... nearly every Sunday night we sit down as a family and watch America's Funniest Home Videos and then Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. Well, we are REALLY looking forward to the Makeover episode coming up on April 27th.

Gaining A Kingdom Perspective On Life
By admin on Thursday, April 24, 2008

Of all the things that characterize Vineyard churches, one key point of theology stands out: an emphasis on the Kingdom of God.  Marty Boller, the pastor from our sending church in Cedar Rapids, posted a great article today about that topic.  Here's the link

And...while you're on their site, check out a bunch of new things they've added, including a name change as their church is heading into their second decade.

No, I'm not talking about the 1999 cult classic movie.... I am referring to the new space Two Rivers is going to be renting. Yesterday at church we made the fun annoucement that we are going to be renting some additional rental space at the Kids Against Hunger (KAH) building here in Mankato.

Deep Questions In Life, By Kate Brinkert
By admin on Thursday, April 24, 2008
With it being the first day of spring break for our kids, I am working from home today. This morning, the girls wanted to watch one of the videos they checked out from the library (we'll get them outside later today... I promise). When I turned on the TV, it was set on channel 24 - TBN (Trinity Broadcast Network), left over from the other night when I was blipping through channels and decided there wasn't anything worth watching.

Interesting Discussion With Tim Keller
By admin on Thursday, April 24, 2008

I found an interesting video on-line from yesterday.  One of the guests is Tim Keller, the pastor of Redeemer Presbyterian Chuch in Manhattan.  Keller has risen to real prominence in the past few years through their church's success in speaking into secular culture of New York City.  I just picked up a copy his new book, "The Reason For God: faith in an age of skepticism."  I'm looking forward to reading it this spring.  Here's a link to the video interview.

Loving Our City
By admin on Thursday, April 24, 2008

I got this e-mail from a key Vineyard Pastor - Rich Nathan.  Rich puts into words much of the we feel about our coomunity.

Followers of Christ Must Love Our Cities

Rich Nathan
Congregational Email - March 2008

It is not to be taken for granted that we Christians necessarily love the cities that God has placed us in. As a Christian leader, I know that many of us Christian leaders love our ministries. We may love to preach, to counsel, or to lead. We Christian leaders love our churches. We (should) love the people in our churches. Christian leaders often love what God has done in our churches’ lives. And we may even love the movement that we are a part of.

But I don’t see that many followers of Christ, or Christian leaders, who love the communities to which God has ...
